Hot Drink Recipes: Caffeine-free alternatives

We heard some of our community find it difficult to give up caffeine! Here’s two options for equally enjoyable hot drink alternatives…

Saffron Tea

Saffron (crocus sativus) is thought to be rich in carotenoids and has been suggested in research to have a positive regulating effect on the immune system. Saffron is thought to reduce the negative impact of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-a and NF-kB). Recent research suggests that Saffron may improve outcomes of depression and anxiety.


Turmeric Latte

Turmeric contains curcumin which has been found in many studies now to inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-a. The absorption of turmeric is enhanced with the addition of piperine (from black pepper) and most effectively transported in a fat (such as olive oil or coconut oil).
