Prebiotics: Essential Supplements for Chronic Fatigue

Pre-biotics are vital supplements for chronic fatigue. They are a type of fiber that protects the body against food all sorts of diseases, including food poisoning, intestinal and colon problems. Pre-biotics feed the good bacteria in our gut, so they promote our health and wellbeing. They also ensure that we are able to defend against pathogens which may cause illness and disease. This is why pre biotics are such essential supplements for chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

While there are many good pre-biotic supplements, this fiber is also found in certain health giving foods. These vegetables include:

  • Chicory root
  • Jerusalem artichoke
  • Leeks
  • Onions
  • Salsify
  • Bananas
  • Oats

It may be extremely beneficial to add these pre-biotics to your diet if you have suffered from health problems such as:

  • Blood sugar imbalance – since pre-biotics encourage bifido bacteria to grow which produces acids that help to balance blood sugar levels
  • A tendency to get stomach upsets or gut dysbiosis
  • Are travelling to areas where gastro-intestinal illness is common
  • Suffer from gastroenteritis, Chrohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
  • Thrush or vaginosis
  • Chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia

It may also be a good idea to increase these foods in your diet if you are taking anti-biotics.

In order to maximize the advantage of these pre-biotic super foods, stick to the following guidelines:

  • Eat the freshest vegetables that you can find. Long storage times lowers the nutrient and pre-biotic power.
  • Onion soup is packed with large dose of pre-biotics and it is one of the highest natural sources of vitamin C. Onion soup is considered a great supplement for chronic fatigue.

Remember that some people get excessive flatulence when eating many of these foods. Start on a very low dosage per day and build up gently. After some time, these beneficial bacteria will build up in the gut and the flatulence will cease.

Anyone with arthritis or other auto-immune conditions should use pre-biotics with caution.
